Walnut

Prone to change

Uncertainty

Doubt, pressure, unsettledness

For those who have definite ideals and ambitions in life and are fulfilling them, but on rare occasions are tempted to be led away from their own ideas, aims and work by the enthusiasm, convictions or strong opinions of others. This remedy gives constancy and protection from outside influences.

Reflection

Walnut reflects being easily swayed, especially in a season of change. Other opinions, old expectations, and the pressure to stay the same pull at a decision already settled before God. Paul calls the believer to a renewed mind rather than conformity to the surrounding pressure. Wise counsel can still be heard. Mere pressure does not get the final word.

Scripture

Romans 12:2 (KJV). "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Meditation

God, renew my mind in this change. Hold me to what You have already made clear, and give me discernment when other voices grow loud.
